Information and information processing techniques have become quite indispensable to various fields of not only natural sciences but also to social sciences, as they can be applied to solve problems in the fields of human and societal relations.
The closer society is linked to computers, the more we should be aware of the interaction of computers and society. A new viewpoint is needed in order to create and maintain harmony between computers and society.
Therefore, the establishment of a new system to solve problems related to the interaction of (1) humans and computers and (2) individuals and society have become crucial. The new system must also include the study of conventional field of information science and engineering, which have until now mainly dealt with information mathematics and computers.
The Graduate School of Information Science and Engineering at Tokyo Tech leads this new field of study and fosters capable professionals with creativity and integrity.
